Unless you have a rare pass to the paddock, you have limited opportunities to meet your favourite rider, take a photo, or ask for an autograph. But it's not impossible, so don't give up. Here are our tips:
Fan zone
Some riders are required to participate in fan zone activities as part of their promotional obligations. To stay informed about when and where you can meet your favourite riders, follow the social media accounts of the event organisers, teams, riders, and sponsors. These platforms often announce details about appearances.
Hero Walk
The Hero Walk presents a unique opportunity for fans to meet and interact with riders. On both Saturday and Sunday, selected MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3 riders take part in the 'Hero Walk.' This event allows a limited number of fans to engage with the riders, request autographs, take selfies, and create lasting memories.
In front of the circuit
Not all riders stay at the circuit; some opt for nearby hotels. The parking areas near the main entrance are often reserved for top-tier parking pass holders, including the riders themselves. If you plan to wait for them, arrive early, as they usually get to the circuit before the day’s race program to avoid traffic.
Each rider has a different approach to interacting with fans, so it's important to respect their boundaries. If a rider seems in a hurry, avoid holding them up. They operate under a lot of pressure, and if they don’t have time to stop, don’t push or get upset.
For autographs, your chances are better if you have official rider merchandise ready to be signed. Avoid using random items like plain t-shirts, paper, or even your skin, as riders are more likely to pass on these with many other fans also waiting.
If you want a photo with a rider, it's certainly possible, but be mindful of their personal space. Having someone else take the photo is often the best option. If you prefer a selfie, be respectful of the rider’s comfort zone. Not everyone enjoys being crowded or hugged by strangers, especially when there are many fans around.
In MotoGP racing, if you come up with a good plan, chances are thousands of others have the same idea. Heading for the restroom during a short break or grabbing lunch? Everyone else is likely doing the same. To avoid wasting valuable time in long lines, try to adjust your schedule ahead of the crowd. Plan your meals and restroom breaks strategically so you can spend more time enjoying the action and less time waiting.
Some races feature a "track invasion" after the race, where fans are allowed onto the track to witness the podium ceremony up close. The entrances are opened by the organisers, giving fans the chance to stand directly below the podium. Check our guide to the fan zones and event schedule to see if this option is available at the race you're attending. If this is something you’re looking forward to, consider selecting seats near the podium to ensure you don’t miss out.
