HISTORY OF THE BALATON PARK CIRCUIT

The Balaton Park Circuit, near Lake Balaton in Hungary, is a newly developed motorsport venue designed to meet modern safety and spectator standards, hosting international events like MotoGP.

The scenic circuit was part of a broader initiative to strengthen Hungary’s presence in motorsport. Construction began in 2019, led by a group of private investors, including former racecar driver Chanoch Nissany, who funded the project without external financing. The circuit brings a state-of-the-art facility to Hungary's racing landscape, enhancing its appeal alongside the renowned Hungaroring.

The circuit was opened in 2023 and hosted several regional racing events in 2024.

History of Hungarian motorcycle Grand Prix

Before its return to the calendar for the 2025 season, the Hungarian motorcycle Grand Prix took place twice in history, particularly in 1990 and 1992. Both these races took place at the Hungaroring, with Mick Doohan and Eddie Lawson claiming victories in the 500cc class (now MotoGP class) in 1990 and 1992 respectively.
